There are six planets in incendiary Aries at this New Moon (April 3 at 7:32 a.m. PDT). With that much fire energy afoot, a person could be tempted to do something wild and crazy–like jump out of a plane or tell somebody off in a moment of pique. Yet austere Saturn opposed the New Moon and Mercury newly in retrograde motion remind us to hold back, watch our actions and words, and cultivate the “spiritual warrior” within.
In Astro Feng Shui, Aries corresponds to the Career and Life Purpose gua. So, this New Moon is a good time to clean and de-clutter the area around your front door. Get some bright marigolds or pansies for your planter box, paint your door red, or otherwise make this area more inviting. And, invoke for new career direction or renewed energy.
With so many chaotic changes on the planet, many of us are feeling exhausted right now. And, how can you move forward if your energy level isn’t up to par? This ritual from my book, Astro Feng Shui: Making Magic in Your Home and Life, can help:
Pump Up Your Life Force
You will need: A red candle, a goblet of water, a pen and paper.
Position your candle at a comfortable and safe spot in your Career and Life Purpose gua (the area surrounding your front door). Set the goblet of water nearby. Light the candle and focus on the flame to center yourself. Take some deep breaths and consider your immediate goals for your career, body image or energy level. Imagine an inner Sun in your solar plexus, with a fire burning in the center of it. On the inhale, fan that fire and drop into it any negative thoughts, emotions, or images that are standing in your way from experiencing a healthy career or physical self. On the exhale, transform all that’s been incinerated into light that radiates out of every pore.
Continue this breathing pattern until your thoughts and feelings have been neutralized. (If you know the Breath of Fire, which involves taking rapid breaths into your belly through your nose, you can include it). When you feel complete, bring your awareness to your heart and feel appreciation.
Dip your fingers into the goblet, and flick a little water onto your solar plexus, to affirm your cleansing and renewal. Then, write down what you wish to achieve within the next 30-day timeframe, and set the paper next to the candle. Keep it realistic: If you shoot too hight and your subconscious mind rebels, you may set yourself up for disappointment (i.e. “I now win $100 million in the lottery.”)
Here are a few realistic examples: “I now welcome ten new paying clients who are greatly benefited by the services I offer.” Or, “I now find the energy and resolve to embark on a healthy eating and fitness regimen.”
In setting your intentions, bear in mind that with Mercury in retrograde (March 30 – April 23), it may take a while for things to get going. Be patient with yourself and others. Here’s to renewed energy and career momentum for all!
